Larnaca Day 5

It was a later start to the day, as we headed out around 08:45 for breakfast. We wandered into town, unsure where to go, but ultimately decided on one last visit to Christanthis. This time I went sweet, and had the cookie dough pancakes. I figured they couldn't be as filling as the last stack. Surely? Well, the last stack wasn't held together by a stick stabbed through them. These were, and that s …

Larnaca Day 4

I did the Boston (UK) marathon back in April, and that really hadn’t gone to plan with all the wind and rain on the day. It was probably one of the wettest races I’ve ever done (though maybe not the wettest run overall) as I think it may have been worse than Chicago. It was at least colder anyway, as I remembered Chicago still being warm despite it raining throughout. After Boston, I’d gotten so c …

Larnaca Day 3

Another day, and another breakfast out. This time we went to To Kafe Tis Chrysanthi’s, which is a place Carmen had used for breakfast on numerous occasions last year. It was quite the coincidence that I’d photographed the building during my day trip, and she’d eaten there a couple of years later. Unfortunately the early signs were that Carmen was getting the same cold I’d got. The warm air had mad …

Larnaca Day 2

Myself and Carmen have visited Cyprus multiple times before, and we've both explored Larnaca to a degree as well. Last time I'd visited I'd seen more or less everything I'd wanted to in a day, and felt there wasn't really anything left to see. It's not like Paphos where you could easily spend half a day just looking around ruins in the sun. This meant we'd now got two whole days with nothing plan …

AirBNB in Larnaca

Larnaca Day 1

A horrendously early start to the day would get us into Cyprus a little after midday so we'd have some time to settle before a couple of relaxing days ahead of race day. It didn't help I appeared to have the start of a cold.

Larnaca

After I’d finally made it to the race in Limassol, and around some of Northern Cyprus, I didn’t expect to be going back there again. However, I also hadn’t expected me and Carmen to be offered places for pacing the Larnaca Half Marathon in November. I liked the idea of going somewhere in the winter - it’d be one last bit of sun before winter in the UK. It would also be a chance to explore more of …

Cyprus Day 6

I was awake far too early. It was 06:00, which would have been like 04:00 back home, although I didn't get up until 07:00. I had breakfast, showered, and finished my packing. I felt like I could have run one last time in the sun, but thought maybe it wouldn't be beneficial at all today when I'd be spending a lot of time on my feet, and travelling. Before leaving I headed over to a nearby store to …

Cyprus Day 5

My alarm went at 05:15 and I took my time getting up. As I had breakfast I watched the sunrise, and thought not just about last night but the day ahead. The forecast looked promising for the race, but hopefully it wouldn’t then prove to be too warm. Eventually, it was time to make my way to the race start. It was a very short walk from where I was, and I once again bumped into Jonathan and Liz, a …

Cyprus Day 4

I dedcided not to run this morning, which meant it was a later start to the day. It was handy as it was also raining heavy, so knew that anything I did today would be best being indoors. By 10:00 I'd decided to head out into the rain, and watched some of the corporate 5K race. After a while I then headed back in the direction of the marina, and looked around some souvenir shops, but this time didn …

Cyprus Day 3

It’d rained over night, and I found some of the ground to be slippery under foot when I went out for my 5K run at 06:20, before breakfast. It was humid though, and threatened to rain again. For this run I wasn’t after any particular sights, I just ran where my legs took me, trying to keep the pace down, but making sure that I got the miles done. After fitting in some extra sights yesterday it mea …

Nicosia border

Cyprus Day 1

As soon as I arrived back in Cyprus I headed straight to Nicosia to start seeing new sights immediately. This would be a very packed couple of days, but hopefully worth it.

Cyprus

At last the second part of my Cyprus trip was in sight. Last time I'd visited Paphos, the Troodos mountains, Limassol, and Larnaca. This time I would visit Nicosia/Leftkosa and Northern Cyprus before finally doing the half marathon I'd booked for 2020.

Rainbow over Amathus

Cyprus Day 8

My time in Cyprus, for now, had come to an end. It was strange to know I'd be back in a few months time. Pandemic permitting.

Flamingoes on Larnaca Salt Lake

Cyprus Day 7

For my final full day in Cyprus I took the bus to Larnaca to see what I could find there.

Cyprus Day 6

I covered over 18 miles on foot today, not having realised it'd be a long hike between two of the sights. Time tables for busses were against me as well, and it left me wondering whether I'd manage to see everything I wanted to.

Amathus

Cyprus Day 5

I took the bus to Amathus, and then hired a bike to cycle around the far side of the salt lake to Akrotiri, and then back.

Limassol Old Port

Cyprus Day 4

This was a slow day with the only goal to get from Paphos to Limassol using the Intercity bus. Anything else would be a bonus.

Paphos - Tombs of the Kings

Cyprus Day 3

Today I covered twenty miles on foot, seeing all of the sights in Paphos that I could find. It was a warm day too, but I managed to stay hydrated, took my time when I could, and tried to take it all in.

Omodos - Monastery of the Holy Cross

Cyprus Day 2

Today I took a tour bus that started in the flooded streets of Paphos, and finished up in the Troodos Mountains, visiting villages and waterfalls.

Paphos from the air

Cyprus Day 1

My adventure in Cyprus started off traveling from Luton to Paphos, and from there preparing for the next few days whilst also squeezing in a run to continue the 567 day runstreak.

Cyprus

A month after getting back from a trip around Germany, I was now starting to think about my upcoming trip to Cyprus, and making sure I had everything I needed for this to go smoothly and be enjoyable.
