It’d rained over night, and I found some of the ground to be slippery under foot when I went out for my 5K run at 06:20, before breakfast. It was humid though, and threatened to rain again. For this run I wasn’t after any particular sights, I just ran where my legs took me, trying to keep the pace down, but making sure that I got the miles done.
After fitting in some extra sights yesterday it meant all I’d got left to do this morning was the museum, if I felt like it. This was only ten minutes walking from the hotel, and easy to navigate to. I’d expected it to cost something to go in as advertised on the website, but it was actually free.
With nobody else in the museum I was able to go around it in just twenty minutes. I could have spent longer if I’d read every piece of information, but I was keen to try and get the 08:45 bus to Limassol. It was miserable here, and I hoped that the weather in Limassol would be brighter and warmer. I knew I’d have more fun there anyway.
The bus to Limassol was fairly empty, and it’s still mandatory to wear a mask for travel - something enforced by the driver. However everyone other than me, the driver included, was wearing their mask under their chin. It takes the best part of two hours to get from Nicosia to Limassol by bus, but there was one moment of panic early on when leaving a bus stop. I got a notification on my phone that a device had been left behind. What?!
I was worried that when loading their own luggage in, someone had taken mine out and it was now sitting on the side of the road with all of my running gear in. I opened the ‘Find My’ app to see what it was reporting as the location of my luggage, but then I realised it said ‘Device’ - that usually means like a phone, or an iPad. Sure enough it had thought my iPad, which I’d got in my hand, had been left behind. In actual fact, it just hadn’t had an internet connection since I’d left the hotel. Panic over.
When I arrived in Limassol I headed the Marina as they were using the Salone catamaran for Race HQ. The is were I’d collect my race pack, t-shirt, and pasta party pass. On my way there I bumped into Jonathan, a #visorclub member who would be pacing the half marathon on Saturday. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d seen him, so we chatted briefly, and then after a while I headed to the ship to collect my race number.
For lunch I had my first ever Bao buns from the Agora, and then made my way to the apartment I'd be staying in. I found it was difficult to locate, until I found building numbers to work with. My room was quite big, with a decently equipped kitchen, and was well decorated. The TV even had Netflix, not that I intended on using it. The balcony was very big, and from this third floor location I could just see the sea.
Once I was sorted I then headed out for a walk heading east, petting the ocassional cat, until it was time to head back and for some food.
